Symposium about torture in Morocco
Several former detainees of Tazmamart (Morocco) spoke about there
experience of 18 years of detention under inhuman conditions at a
symposium about torture, organized by OMDH (Organisation Marocaine
des Droits de l'Homme) at Casablanca. Some international
organizations and Moroccan physicians participated to this meeting,
devoted to the psychologic and medical effects of torture. OMDH means
to open a medical center for victims of torture and European,
American and Arabic specialists explained their experiences in this
domaine. (EFE)

Morocco: diplomatic offensive
Morocco leads actually a diplomatic offensive in South America and
Africa, in order to bring governments to cancel their recognition of
the SADR. The offensive begins to bear fruit, Burkina, Congo, and now
Sao Tome and Principe cancels their recognition of the Sahrawi
Republic, and Peru suspends its relations. Actually 72 countries
around the world, 30 in Africa and 24 in South America recognize the
SADR.

Manifestation of young Sahrawis
About 60 young Sahrawis of Tan-Tan (South Morocco) began on Monday 21
a sit-in before the townhall to ask for employment. The population of
Tan-Tan and the neighbour region of Gulimine considers they are
disadvantaged compared to the inhabitants of Western Sahara, who have
many advantages like: double pay in the official function, sheapness
of basic products subsidized by the government, and where about 1000
young Sahrawis are paid as civil servants without working (EFE).

Honors for the Polisario
Valencia attributes its annual October Prizes (Premis d'Octubre) in
its XXVth edition. They have an important resonance in all Catalunya,
Valencia and Spain. The Prize of the International Solidarity of this
edition goes to the Frente Polisario. To pick up the prize Mohamed
Abdelaziz went to Valencia. Some meetings with people who support
Sahrawi people take place.
