consider it not in their interest that the truth be known!
Once again,
Moroccan authorities persist in refusing a democratic
dialogue when the Western Sahara conflict is concerned.
In fact, the
Moroccan ambassador to the Netherlands has not considered it
useful to respond favourably to the invitations of the
International Law departments of the Dutch Universities of
Leiden (March 26th, 2002 &endash; 18:30 h.), of Utrecht
(March 27th, 2002 &endash; 14:00h) and of Amsterdam (March
27th, 2002 &endash; 19:30 h.), that wanted to organize an
academic debate around the Western Sahara conflict in the
presence of a Moroccan and a Sahrawi protagonist.
Mr. M'hamed
Khadad, member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario
Front and Sahrawi Coordinator with the United Nations who
has participated in these conferences has demonstrated that
the Western Sahara conflict is clearly a decolonization
problem that should be solved in accordance with
international law which prescribes self determination in
matters of decolonization. The presentation by Mr Khadad
outlined the legal and political aspects of the problem and
demonstrated that a peaceful solution in accordance with
international legality will positively affect the stability
of the region, its security and its development. The organizers
of the conferences, the professors and the participants were
surprised by the absence of the Moroccan party and highly
regretted the situation. Such refusal does by no means serve
the democratic debate over this question and reveals that,
when Western Sahara is concerned, Moroccan officials do not
consider it in their interest that the truth be

n'ont pas intérêt à ce que la
vérité se sache!! Une fois de
plus, les responsables marocains persistent dans le refus du
dialogue démocratique lorsqu'il s'agit du conflit du
Sahara occidental. En effet,
l'ambassadeur du Maroc aux Pays-Bas n'a pas jugé
utile de répondre favorablement à l'invitation
des départements du droit international des
universités néerlandaises de Leiden
(26/03/2002 &endash; 18h30), de Utrecht (27/03/2002 &endash;
14h) et d'Amsterdam (27/03/2002 &endash; 19h30), qui
voulaient organiser un débat académique autour
du conflit du Sahara Occidental en présences des deux
protagonistes sahraouis et marocains. M.M'hamed
Khadad, membre du Secrétariat National du Front
Polisario et Coordinateur Sahraoui avec les Nations Unies
qui a participé à cettes conférences a
pu démontré qu'en ce qui concerne le
problème sahraoui il s'agit clairement d'un
problème de décolonisation qu'il faut
résoudre selon les règles du droit
international qui, en matière de
décolonisation, préconise
l'autodétermination. Les exposés de M. Khadad
ont développé les aspects juridiques et
politiques du problème et ont démontré
qu'une solution pacifique et respectant le droit
international aura des conséquences positives sur la
stabilité de la région, sa
sécurité et son développement.
Les
responsables de cette initiative, les professeurs et le
public assistant étaient surpris de l'absence de la
partie marocaine et l'ont vivement regretté. Un tel
refus ne peut certainement pas servir le débat
démocratique autour de cette question et
révèle à l'opinion qu'en ce qui
concerne le conflit du Sahara Occidental les officiels
marocains n'ont pas intérêt à ce que la
