The
Moroccan Oppressive Occupying forces deny the Sahrawi Political
Prisoner Amidane ElWali from His right of Education and the Right to
pursue his studies.
Under the continuing Moroccan oppression and its relentless practices
to deny sahrawis their right, and in a failed attempt to seek revenge,
the Moroccan “Carcel Negra” Laayoune/ Western Sahara jail
administration denied the Sahrawi political prisoner who is also a
human right activist, Elwali
Amidane, his right to continue his studies from within the jail
where he is at right now. Despite the fact that he wrote a request to
the jail administration to be transferred to Ait Melloul Jail near,
Agadir, so that he could study there since Laayoune / Western Sahara
jail does not meet the study atmosphere requirements. The prison
administration Refused to grant him his wish and denied him his right
of education that is a right given to any prisoner according to the
international conventions and laws. And also according to the Moroccan
law concerning prisons. Under all theSe circumstances, the sahrawi
political prisoner, Elwali Amidane, member of the CODESA, will start a
hunger strike today: Monday 17th septmeber, 2007.
Elwali Amidane expressed his disappointment of his serious violation of
his right to continue his studies. He considers this violation as a
failed attempt of revenge on his activism and political views as well.
He calls upon all the free people and all those who believe in
democracy across the world and upon all the human rights organizatons
to put pressure on the Moroccan government so that he can be granted
his right to continue his studies. He also expresses his unconditional
support to all the sahrawi political prisoners on a hunger
strike at Laayoune’s jail “Carcel Negra”.
