The Arrest of a Sahrawi woman in El Aaiun, Western Sahara
On July 16, 2007, the Moroccan authorities arrested the Sahrawi woman,
Ghlaina Ment Barhah, 40 years old, and her husband, Elmahfoud
Lemmaissi, in El Aaiun, Western Sahara. She is still arrested
since 08:00 a.m. while her husband has been released.
The Moroccan authorities had violently attacked them and broke into
their house in Al Inaache earlier. They arrested Glaina and her son,
Abdennaser lmaissi, 14 years old, who was savagely beaten in front of
her. As a result, his right ear became deaf; and he had to undergo a
chirurgical operation in Casablanca.
The reasons for her arrest are still unknown.
Ghlaina Ment Barhah was born in 1967 in El Aaiun, Western Sahara. She
has 05 children, the youngest of them is less than two years old.
