The Moroccan State prevents the human rights activist, Ali Salem Tamek from  continuing his university  studies in Morocco

 
The administration of the Judicial, Economic and Social College, Hassan II University in Mohamedia, Morocco „about 20 kms away from Casablanca‚‚, have turned down the application of the prominent human rights defender, Ali Salem Tamek (34 years old) to register at the university after he got his baccalaureate (2007-2008) in Assa, south of Morocco.
Tamek, the member  of the secretariat and president of the Preparatory Committee of the Collective of the Sahrawi Human Rights Defenders, had already handed in  his application form with all the documents necessary to the administrators in charge at Hassan II university in Mohamedia, Morocco.
 
After his protest at a meeting with the head of the university, the latter said that very high officials were behind depriving Tamek from continuing his  studies at university.
 
This repressive act is one in a long process of harassment and oppression against Tamek:  He was arrested at more than four occasions, forcibly muted to a Moroccan city to work in, later  on sacked of work, then the Moroccan authorities tried to distort his reputation on the media because of his support to the Sahrawi people‚s right to self-determination, next his wife was raped by force by a number of the Moroccan security agents after visiting him in Ait Melloul Prison, Morocco, then the authorities  refused to register his daughter in his personal documents  unless he changes her name, which he refused, then they tried to make him mad, and  put him in a psychological asylum in Inezegane, south of Agadir, Morocco, then forbade him from entering the Western Sahara territory, etc.

Thus, the CODESA , having learnt about Ali Salem Tamek‚s prohibition from continuing his university studies,

1.    denounces this illegal act, as everyone has the right for study according to the articles 13 and 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Charter of the Economic, Social and Cultural  Rights.
2.    appeals to the international organizations and human rights associations to exert enough pressure on the Moroccan state to allow Ali Salem Tamek continue his university studies.
3.    calls the Moroccan state to stop the oppression exerted against the Sahrawi university students at the Moroccan cities.

L'état marocain interdit le défenseur sahraoui des droits de l'homme de poursuivre ses études universitaires



Les responsables administratifs de la faculté des sciences juridiques, économiques et sociales de l'université Hassan II à Mohammadia au Maroc ont rejeté la demande d'inscription déposée par Mr ALI SALEM TAMEK en sa qualité de titulaire d'un baccalauréat marocain qu'il a obtenu à Assa au sud du Maroc au titre de l'année scolaire 2004-2007.

Le défenseur sahraoui des droits de l'homme membre du secrétariat du COSESA et président du comité préparatoire de son assemblée constitutive avait déposé, le 1 octobre 2007, auprès des services administratifs de la faculté en question une demande manuscrite et un dossier complet conformément aux modalités administratives requises pour l'inscription des nouveaux étudiants.

Après le refus de son inscription, Mr TAMEK s'est entretenu avec le responsables de la faculté (doyen de la faculté, les deux vice-doyen et le secrétaire général) sur les causes qui ont motivé ce refus. Ces responsables n'ont pas pu lui communiquer aucun motif légal justifiant ce refus d'inscription sauf que des hauts responsables de l'état marocain ne veulent pas que TAMEK soit inscrit à cette faculté pour poursuivre ses études universitaires.

Informé de ce refus d'inscription, le sécrétariat du CODESA proteste énergiquement contre cet acte d'atteinte aux droits les plus élémentaires et sollicite de toutes les organisations internationales des droits de l'homme  de faire pression sur l'état marocain pour permettre à Mr ALI SALEM TAMEK de s'inscrire à l'université et poursuivre par la suite ses études universitaires.
